From Times wire services

Shell Oil Co. said today that it expects to begin in a few days the process of restarting a gasoline-producing West Coast refinery shut down by a spectacular Tuesday night fire that injured two workers.

Spokesman Norm Alstedter said it was not known how long it will take to get the Martinez, Calif., refinery completely back in operation. But he said: “We expect the start-up process will begin in the next few days. Shell will continue to supply normal product requirements to our customers.”

He said the refinery produces 3.4 million gallons of gasoline a day for the West Coast market.
