The Ventura County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted to allow environmental studies of two large subdivisions proposed for eastern Ventura County.
In a 3-2 vote, the board commissioned a $450,000 joint environmental report for the Ahmanson Ranch and Jordan Ranch subdivisions. The two developments would create a community of 12,000 people, along with 240 acres of commercial space.
Supervisor Madge L. Schaefer, who represents Thousand Oaks and the surrounding area, said the decision was a housekeeping measure and only represented the board’s desire for additional information. But Supervisor John Flynn, who voted against the measure, said further information would not improve a project that he views as excessive.
The study is to be done by McClellan Engineers of Thousand Oaks.
