Two women who became lost in the San Gabriel Mountains overnight after being separated from other hikers were found Tuesday morning, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Nicole Taylor of Studio City and Joell Hansen of La Crescenta, both 22, were in good condition despite the cool weather at the high elevation north of Monrovia, Deputy Roger Hom said.

“They were wearing tank tops and shorts and were obviously not prepared to stay overnight up there,” Hom said. “They were tired, cold and hungry.”

The women were found about 6 a.m., Tuesday by five members of the sheriff’s Montrose Search and Rescue Team, Hom said.

The women had gone to the area with two other hikers Monday. They got lost about 4:30 p.m. on Devil’s Canyon Trail. A search for Taylor and Hansen began at 7:30 p.m. when the other hikers, whose identities were unavailable, made their way out of the mountains and reported them missing.

After Taylor and Hansen were found, they were flown by helicopter to the Chileo campground where they were examined by paramedics and released, Hom said.
