Head-On Crash Kills 1; 2 Others Hospitalized
Ahead-on collision Wednesday morning on a desert stretch of Palmdale Boulevard in Palmdale left one man dead and two others critically injured, authorities said.
The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. when the driver of a car headed west drifted into the oncoming lane and slammed into an eastbound car at about 62nd Street East, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ronald Thomason.
The first driver died of his injuries about two hours later. His identity was withheld until relatives could be notified.
Two other men were hospitalized. Michael Villa Balis, 20, was in critical condition at Antelope Valley Medical Center. The other man, whom hospital officials declined to identify, was at Palmdale Hospital Medical Center.
