Comedian Joan Rivers, who has made a catty remark or three about Tammy Faye Bakker in the past, has turned sympathetic and invited Bakker to appear on her new talk show. In a letter to Bakker, Rivers said that she was upset after seeing “the press rip you apart on national television” as Tammy Faye discussed her husband, fallen evangelist Jim Bakker, who was sent to a mental hospital. The comedian said she felt a special bond with Tammy Faye because the press has been hard on her too.
