La Habra : Parking Permit Zone Will Be Considered

Share

Residential streets near La Habra High School would be made off limits to students and others who are not residents or their guests in a proposed ordinance that would require parking permits. The matter will come before the City Council on Sept. 19.

A survey done last month indicated that the heaviest traffic and on-street parking are along Highlander Avenue between Idaho and Monte Vista streets. Nelson Wong, city traffic engineer, reported that the response from residents of the area to the proposal was evenly divided between pro and con. Nearly 60% of the surveys mailed to residents were not returned, however.

City Manager Lee Risner, in a written report to the City Council, said the city could establish a restricted parking zone in the area by resolution. If approved, Risner said, the first new zone created would indeed probably be along Highlander between Idaho and Monte Vista streets. The permits would cost $15.
