GUNS

The hysterical fanaticism of the NRA in the wake of recent legislative defeats and their us-versus-them mentality in seeking the recall or defeat of legislators who are trying to come to grips with real-world problems make me wonder if the prophet Hosea had the gun lobby in mind when he said: “Though I have . . . strengthened their arms, yet do they devise evil against me. They return, but not upwards; they are become like a deceitful bow. Their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: This shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.”
In response to the opening prayer of the group’s 118th annual meeting, quoted toward the end of the cover story, I have one comment: Rambo, go home!
