NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Saints linebacker Rickey Jackson’s face was cut and bruised in a car wreck after Sunday’s victory over the Dallas Cowboys and he probably will undergo surgery, a Saints spokesman said today.
“Swelling in the area will have to go down before more examinations can be done and the extent of injuries can be determined,” said spokesman Rusty Kasmiersky.
Jackson appeared on the postgame television show “Fourth Down on Four,” and the accident occurred some time after that. No details about the accident were available, other than that it occurred on Airline Highway in St. Charles Parish. Jackson was treated at the scene by paramedics, then taken to St. Jude Hospital. He was examined there and taken this morning to Ear Nose and Throat Hospital for treatment.
Jackson was picked for the Pro Bowl after the 1983-86 seasons.
