Texas District Judge Catherine Crier is resigning Sept. 30 to become a news anchor for Cable News Network. The 34-year-old Crier, a former actress and model, has no previous experience in television journalism. CNN president Burt Reinhardt said that “as a judge, trial lawyer and district attorney, Judge Crier has amply demonstrated the kind of critical thinking, knowledge and ability to express herself that are the core of great journalism.” It also might be noted that as a college student, Crier was voted one of the 10 most beautiful women at the University of Texas. Crier was elected to the bench in Dallas as a Republican in 1984.
