Irvine : Time Capsule to Be Buried at Civic Center

A time capsule to be opened in 100 years will be buried today at Irvine’s new civic center.

The capsule will contain more than 200 items, including a letter from Mayor Larry Agran to the Irvine residents of 2089, a poster from the Northwood Little League All-Star team that competed in the 1987 world championships, a horseshoe from the Irvine Ranch, the first edition of the Irvine World News and assorted photographs.

The burial ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the civic center lobby at City Hall, 1 Civic Center Plaza.

The time capsule was sponsored by the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, the City Council and the Irvine Historical Society. It is funded by donations to the Civic Center Trust Dedication.
