ART
A new museum named for the late photographer Ansel Adams opens Sunday in San Francisco with promises that it will become a leading center for creative photography. One of the $1-million museum’s five galleries will be devoted to Adams. The other galleries will exhibit works by local photographers, other contemporary artists, traditional and historical photographers and “people who are challenging the frontiers of what is photography, what is art,” the director says. The museum is across the street from the Moscone Convention Center, in an area that is expected to eventually include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, a visual arts center, a theater and a cinema arts complex.
