Regents Approve Expansion at UCLA

UCLA won approval Friday for two ambitious building projects at the southern end of its Westwood campus. UC Regents voted unanimously to allow UCLA to spend $51 million--$15 million more than originally planned--on renovating and expanding the Medical Center’s operating rooms.

UCLA Chancellor Charles E. Young attributed the increased costs to the discovery of defective plumbing and fire walls and hazardous asbestos.
