David Stern, commissioner of the National Basketball Assn., said that the Board of Governors will further study the need for a weighted lottery at their next meeting in early October at New York.

Stern, in Palm Springs at a meeting of NBA general managers and officials, said that with the recent NBA expansion of four teams there may be a need for changes in the annual lottery. Currently, the worst team in the league can have no higher than the fourth pick in the draft. Stern believes there should be more study as the lottery goes to 11 teams.
