Mission Viejo’s Yert Scores Four Times, Makes a Lasting Impression on Titans

Todd Yert, a Mission Viejo High School graduate who once considered going to Cal State Fullerton, scored four touchdowns for Colorado State in the Rams’ 42-14 victory of the Titans Saturday.

Yert, a 6-foot-1, 226-pound junior, is the Rams’ short-yardage specialist. All four of his touchdowns were from three yards out or less. The four touchdowns tied a school record Yert set two years ago against Hawaii.

“We wanted to give a good impression,” Yert said of the victory. “Coach (Earle Bruce) said we needed to win all our home games.”

And it didn’t hurt that the first was against Fullerton.

“It was neat to play somebody from home,” he said.
