Two new members were recently named to the Huntington Beach Allied Arts Board, a nine-member cultural advisory body to the City Council. A third board member submitted his resignation.

The new members are Lloyd Baron and Elaine Hankin, both of whom serve on various county arts support groups, said Michael Mudd, cultural affairs manager for the city of Huntington Beach. They replaced Marilynn Tom and Vera Maureas, who each served for 12 years.

Board member William Drake, who served for eight years and will be moving to North Carolina in November, resigned recently, Mudd said. No successor has been named.

“We’re pleased that we will have three new members on the arts board,” said Mudd, citing city plans to open a contemporary visual arts center in 1991. “We have a lot of business to do and fresh new ideas are exciting to us.”
