About 550 marijuana plants worth more than $1 million have been seized by Border Patrol agents near Temecula. The plants were found over a period of three days, beginning on Saturday, in De Luz Canyon, which straddles San Diego and Riverside counties.

According to Border Patrol officials, the plants were discovered while agents were patrolling the rugged area, looking for illegal aliens. They estimated that the plants could yield up to 1,200 pounds of marijuana.

No suspects have been arrested in the case, and the marijuana was turned over to the North County Narcotics Task Force and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
