Lewis Lloyd, banned from the National Basketball Assn. on Jan. 13, 1987, for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Houston Rockets that would pay him $350,000 this season, Rocket officials said.
Lloyd, who has been working at the John Lucas drug recovery center in Houston, would become the first banned player to be readmitted to the NBA after a two-year ban.
Micheal Ray Richardson, formerly with the New Jersey Nets, was cleared last year but chose to play in Europe.
