The California Coastal Commission will hold its annual “Adopt-A-Beach” cleanup program at beaches throughout the state Saturday.
The program, which asks volunteers to help remove debris from the state’s sandy waterfront, will start at Malibu’s Surfrider Beach beginning at 9 a.m. and will include similar stops at beaches in Santa Monica, Playa del Rey and Venice. Last year, the program attracted nearly 6,000 volunteers throughout California who removed almost 200,000 pounds of debris, according to coastal officials.
