Very Special Tip Wins Cypress ‘Cap at Los Alamitos
Jockey Danny Cardoza made his fourth winning ride of the night a special one at Los Alamitos Race Course Friday, guiding Very Special Tip to a wire-to-wire victory in the $15,000 Added Cypress Handicap.
Very Special Tip, the 4-1 second choice in the field of eight, led every step of the way from his outside post. “They told me the last time he went to the outside fence,” Cardoza said. “He tried to get out a little tonight. He’s still a little green.”
Very Special Tip is owned by Richard Parrish and trained by Tom Gale. The 2-year-old colt by Special Effort was making his second start on the West Coast and covered the 350-yards in 17.72 seconds.
The winner paid $10, $4.60 and $4.
