Pomona : Change of Street Name
The City Council is moving to restore the name of 2nd Street in the downtown business district, replacing Pomona Mall East, Pomona Mall West and College Plaza, effective in January.
A group of business owners asked the City Council to make the change, saying that the mall designation no longer fits because most of the street is open to vehicles.
The College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific had objected to the loss of the College Plaza designation where the street crosses its campus. The council responded by agreeing to allow the College Plaza street sign to remain but officially changing the name and adding a 2nd Street sign.
Final action on the changes is scheduled for the council’s next meeting Monday.
