Seven Inmates Hurt in Chula Vista Fight
Three inmates were hospitalized and four others were injured after they were beaten with mop handles during a gang fight Wednesday at the County Jail in Chula Vista, authorities said.
The fight began 1:25 p.m. and involved 10 to 15 inmates, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department deputies said.
The Chula Vista jail has been the scene of similar outbreaks in recent months, with sheriff’s deputies blaming crowding. Jail officials declined to give further details Wednesday night.
