Veres to Coach at Cal Lutheran as Volunteer

Ron Veres, who coached Oak Park High to a 17-6 record in two seasons before leaving the school this fall because of “philosophical differences” with administrators, has become a volunteer assistant coach for the Cal Lutheran football team.

“Basically, I just want to keep involved and see if I can help out in any way,” said Veres, who was an assistant at Cal State Northridge before taking the Oak Park position. “It’s nice to be back at the college level.”

Veres resigned at Oak Park earlier this month on the eve of the school’s opener. No permanent replacement has been named and the team is being coached by a group of assistant coaches led by Athletic Director Fred Yamano.
