From Times wire services

A car packed with 70 pounds of dynamite exploded in the basement garage of a downtown hotel where many journalists are staying, damaging or destroying 60 cars and wounding one person, police said today.

The car bomb exploded Thursday night on the first level of the garage of the Tequendama hotel, owned by the army’s retired officers organization. The hotel was not damaged, and no one was evacuated.

The hotel is where many of the U.S. and other foreign television and radio reporters have been staying while in Bogota to cover a 6-week-old war between the government security forces and drug traffickers.
