A man suspected of shooting his estranged wife and her lawyer after a family court hearing turned himself in to sheriff’s authorities in Crescent City on Sunday, police reported.

Scott Pommier walked into the Del Norte County sheriff’s office and told deputies that authorities in Santa Rosa wanted to talk to him about some shootings, said Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Brad Marsh.

“He was unarmed and he was wearing different clothing,” Marsh said. “The deputies described him as looking like a transient, unshaven and disheveled.”

Pommier, 39, allegedly opened fire with a rifle after a reconciliation hearing on Friday, wounding his estranged wife, Leanne Pommier, and her attorney, Chris Andrian. Mrs. Pommier, 37, was in critical condition with gunshot wounds to her right arm and stomach. A bullet fragment was lodged in her brain. Andrian, 45, shot in the shoulder, was in stable condition.

The shooting occurred just after the victims left a hearing in which a judge ruled against Pommier in a domestic law and motion hearing. Police said they believe the gunman shot Mrs. Pommier from a car, then went to the parking lot of the building and shot Andrian. Police said Mrs. Pommier recently told friends she feared her husband might harm her.
