Parkening in Free Recital
Guitarist Christopher Parkening will give a free recital Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Golden Creek Inn, 33 Creek Road, Irvine.
Parkening’s grandmother, Muriel Parkening, is a resident of the inn, a care facility for senior citizens.
The inn will provide a free brunch before and after the performance. Space is limited, however, and admission will be by reservation only. Call (714) 786-5665.
Parkening, a USC graduate, has performed widely in the United States and Europe. Two of his recordings have received Grammy nominations. His program for Saturday is yet to be announced.
He frequently donates his time to perform at senior centers.
Parkening is scheduled to play Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa at a concert sponsored by the Orange County Philharmonic Society. Tickets will cost $8 to $25.
