‘Bill and Ted’ Success in Video, Too

“Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” a sleeper box-office hit that grossed $39 million, has duplicated this success on home video, inching up one notch into the coveted Top Five circle--No. 5 on the Billboard rental chart. The Tom Selleck caper comedy, “Her Alibi,” is doing better-than-expected rental business, jumping to No. 8 in its second chart week. “Skin Deep,” the raunchy John Ritter comedy, cracked the Top 10, landing at No. 9.
* The consensus was that “Fletch Lives,” the further adventures of Chevy Chase’s popular movie character, was just a mildly funny sequel. Still, it was a decent box-office draw ($32 million gross) and, at No. 13 in its second week on the rental chart, is certain to break into the Top 10. VIDEO CHARTS
