A Buena Park man and his girlfriend have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder and attempted rape of a 26-year-old Orange woman, the Buena Park Police Department reported Friday.

Officer Richard McMillen said the victim had car trouble while driving in Garden Grove about 4 p.m. Thursday. McMillen said a man approached the woman and offered to help. She rode with him in his car to his residence in the 5700 block of Fullerton Avenue in Buena Park, and the man tried to rape her inside the house, McMillen said.

“When she fought back, (the assailant) stabbed, cut and hit her several times,” McMillen said. McMillen said the man u used a knife, which she was able to turn on him during the struggle. McMillen said the assailant’s girlfriend was in the house at the time, and she is considered an accessory to the attempted murder.

The victim managed to flee when the couple put her in a car, saying they were taking her back to Garden Grove, McMillen said. He said the woman jumped out and ran to a fast-food outlet, where an employee called police.

McMillen said the couple were arrested at 7:20 p.m. at their Buena Park residence. Daniel L. Hoznor, 24, was booked on suspicion of attempted rape and attempted murder, and Constance E. Bloom, 22, identified as his girlfriend, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

Hoznor was taken to the jail ward of United Western Medical Center-Santa Ana “with deep cuts on both hands,” McMillen said. He said the woman victim was admitted to UC Irvine Medical Center for treatment of stab wounds.
