Anaheim High School’s running game, highlighted by Ernie Akau’s two touchdowns, dominated Buena Park in a 33-13 nonleague victory Friday at Buena Park.

The Colonists (2-3) outgained the Coyotes (1-4) on the ground, 184 to 136 yards.

“After studying Buena Park films, we thought we would stick with the run, which worked very well,” said first-year Anaheim Coach Raul Victores.

“This was our best offensive game yet. Maybe the kids are starting to gel. We’ll find out next week against Valencia.”

He also recovered a Buena Park fumble early in the third quarter and scored three plays later on an eight-yard run to ensure the win.

Three plays after Akau’s first touchdown, Buena Park running back John Sinuhoi scored on a 56-yard run down the right sideline.
