MICHAEL CHANG
I am more than a little disturbed by the tone of “Boy Wonder,” by Thomas Bonk (Aug. 27). I find Bonk’s cynicism most scalding. Is it so amazing that a 17-year-old Chinese-American who happens to believe in God is proud to acknowledge Him publicly? What if Chang never wins another Grand Slam? Will Bonk berate him for his trust and beliefs?
I believe that a good reporter or writer should take care not to wear his or her prejudices like epaulets. I also believe that the standard at The Times should attempt to rise above biased overtones.
