An elderly man killed while trying to cross a busy Garden Grove street was identified Monday as William Unger, 76.
Unger of Garden Grove had just left a bar Sunday night when he tried to cross the westbound lanes of Westminster Avenue, near Lake Street. The driver of one car swerved to avoid Unger. Another driver, however, was unable to react as quickly and struck him, according to officers.
Unger was pronounced dead at 9 p.m. at Garden Grove Medical Center, about half an hour after the accident. Police said Monday that the driver of the car that hit Unger was not cited, pending investigation.
