From Times staff and wire reports

Homicide detectives said they had arrested a suspect in the murders of two of six alleged prostitutes killed over an eight-week period in West Oakland. Police said a tip from a prostitute led them to arrest Dewain Hall, 25, of Richmond. They said the unidentified woman witnessed one of the killings, and told them she was forced by Hall to shoot at a man in an effort to implicate her in a crime and force her to remain silent. Police said Hall probably will be charged with the murders of Annie Green, 29, and Teresa Greenlee, 26. Green’s body was found Sept. 20 under a freeway overpass in West Oakland and Greenlee’s body was found two blocks away on Sept. 25. Hall also will be charged with the attempted murder of a third woman, investigators said.
