Pedroza Knocks Out Tiger at Forum
Engels Pedroza knocked out Young Dick Tiger in the third round of their scheduled 12-round International Boxing Federation Intercontinental welterweight title bout Tuesday night at the Forum.
Pedroza dropped Tiger twice in the third round with short right crosses. Tiger was counted out at 1:22 by referee Hank Elespuru.
The Intercontinental title is the first for the IBF, which recently joined the World Boxing Assn. and the World Boxing Council in sanctioning title bouts for boxers who are not ranked in the top 10.
In a lightweight bout scheduled for 10 rounds, Lalo Velasquez of Baldwin Park, stopped Pedro Montero of Garden Grove in the eighth round.
Velasquez knocked Montero to one knee with a short right cross in the first round.
Velasquez improved to 19-5.
