A 10th suspect has been arrested in connection with the Sept. 30 beating and shooting death of a Newport Beach man, authorities said Wednesday.

Detectives arrested Roman M. Woolem, 20, at his brother’s San Pedro home on suspicion of conspiracy to murder 21-year-old John Fahey, Police Sgt. Andy Gonis said.

Fahey was pronounced dead on arrival at Hoag Hospital two weeks ago Saturday after he was beaten and shot at a party in an apartment on Balboa Boulevard, police said.

Since then, police have made several arrests in connection with the murder. Four men, including a 17-year-old Carson youth, were arrested about an hour after the slaying. The next day, police arrested another man at his Long Beach home.

On October 5, police arrested Heather R. Rose, 21, Fahey’s neighbor, and Irvine resident Richard K. Nogawa, 21. And less than 24 hours later, two others had been picked up on suspicion of murder.

Police said the suspects had gathered at Rose’s apartment before the slaying.

A preliminary hearing at Harbor Municipal Court is scheduled Monday . Two of the suspects--Zependa Renaldo, 20, and Tito G. Huizar, 19, both of Long Beach--were free on $100,000 bail in connection with a shooting last December, police said. They had been scheduled to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on Oct. 2.
