From Times staff and wire reports

The head of San Francisco’s Police Commission has called for an investigation into published reports that a longtime police critic was tracked by a police computer. Police Commission President Louis Giraudo said the police activities reported in the San Francisco Examiner did not appear to involve standard procedure. The newspaper said it obtained documents showing that police followed Catherine Cusic from a demonstration to her car, ran the computer check and found a warrant for failing to appear in court for a speeding ticket. The newspaper said Capt. Timothy Hettrich wrote a note to Deputy Chief Jack Jordan, brother of Police Chief Frank Jordan, that said: “It appears that our friend (Cusik) has a $500 warrant. We can get her next time.”
