In its first steps toward a gang prevention program, the city is interviewing candidates for the position of neighborhood coordinator.
“The person hired for this position will not necessarily have direct involvement with existing gangs but will become more involved with preventative action,” said Susan Chow, assistant to the city manager. “Special emphasis will be placed on at-risk children,” she said.
Several incidents during the past few years in Buena Park triggered the decision to create the position of neighborhood coordinator.
The city and the Buena Park School District are working together to create the job of neighborhood coordinator.
