COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UC Irvine Defeats Pacific in Water Polo

Top-ranked UC Irvine defeated No. 10 Pacific, 5-2, in a Big West Conference water polo match Sunday at Stockton.
Irvine, which improved its record to 15-2 overall, 3-0 in conference play, was led by Pablo Yrizar, who had two goals.
Dan Smoot and Tom Warde each had a goal for Irvine.
Kelly Porter scored with four minutes left for Pacific (5-6, 1-4) and Mike Allen scored with 53 seconds remaining.
In Big West Conference men’s soccer:
San Jose State 5, UC Irvine 3--Kevin Smith, Dave Weidner and Darren Bedol scored for visiting Irvine (2-11-1, 0-5).
In nonconference soccer:
UCLA 2, Cal State Fullerton 0--Dan Beaney and Chris Henderson scored second-half goals to lift top-ranked UCLA at home. Fullerton is 8-5-1; UCLA is 12-1-1.
In women’s tennis:
Kim Po of UCLA won the Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Assn. Regional championship at UC Irvine. Po, the second-seeded player, defeated Danielle Scott of Arizona, 6-1, 6-1.
