UCLA Women Defeat USC in Volleyball

In a battle between the two top women’s volleyball teams in the Pacific 10, No. 2 UCLA defeated No. 6 USC, 16-14, 15-10 and 15-10, Wednesday night at Pauley Pavilion, extending its conference winning streak to 27 consecutive matches.

Behind the play of outside hitters Elaine Youngs, who had 20 kills and three blocks, and Jenny Evans, who finished with 14 kills, the Bruins improved to 9-0 in the Pac-10 and 15-1 overall. Senior All-American Daiva Tomkus and freshman Natalie Williams added 11 blocks apiece.

The Trojans (7-2 in Pac-10 play, 14-5 overall) were led by Lonise Norfleet, who had 13 kills.
