COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fry Tops His Class for Rancho Santiago in Wrestling Event

Bret Fry won the 134-pound championship to lead Rancho Santiago College to a third-place finish in the West Valley wrestling invitational Saturday at San Jose.
Fresno finished first with 96 points, Moorpark was second with 58 and Rancho Santiago had 54 1/2.
Three other Rancho Santiago wrestlers finished in the top four in their weight classes. Chris Yagerlener came in second in the heavyweight division, Rusty Espinoza was third in the 132-pound class and Rozi Rasmomodj was fourth in the 118-pound class.
At the Santa Barbara women’s volleyball tournament:
Orange Coast College lost to the College of the Sequoias, 15-4, 15-6, 15-5, and also lost to Pasadena, 15-7, 15-10, 15-9. Vivian Sliepka had a total of 10 kills in the two matches for Orange Coast (2-8).
Also at the Santa Barbara tournament, Golden West (8-3) defeated Santa Rosa in the first round, 15-7, 15-8, 15-12, and defeated Golden West in the second round, 15-12, 15-9, 15-3. Golden West defeated Pasadena, 15-12, 15-8, in the losers’ bracket. Joli Eberhart and Maureen Flannigan each had 26 kills total for the day.
At the Cypress water polo tournament:
Golden West 10, Cuesta 5--Scott Taylor had 12 saves and Henry Rabello had three goals to lead Golden West (23-3).
