English, Anyone?

I found it quite interesting to read Peter Greenberg’s article on cruise ship safety (“It Pays to Know If Your Ship Passed Inspection,” Sept. 24), as the day before I had returned from a 14-day cruise on the Royal Viking Sun.
I take exception to his statement (regarding) crew communication in an emergency when he mentions the crew on one ship as being “from 43 countries.”
On the Sun, the crew members come from 32 countries, and every one of them speaks English. I know this because my wife is a crew member, which afforded me the opportunity to spend a good deal of time in the crew areas of the ship. In fact, every sign on the ship is written only in English, and never were any announcements made other than in English.
Not all cruise line companies should be categorized as being the same.
