Last-minute heroics are nothing new to Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino, but rookie kicker Pete Stoyanovich is learning.

Marino directed a quick drive to set up Stoyanovich’s 33-yard field goal with six seconds left Sunday as the Dolphins beat the Green Bay Packers, 23-20. It was Miami’s third consecutive narrow victory and Stoyanovich’s second game-winning field goal in three weeks.

“I had confidence in Pete,” said wide receiver Mark Clayton, whose receptions of 20 and 14 yards helped set up the field goal. “He looked at me as I was running off the field and he winked at me.

“We knew he’d make it. He remembers missing in the Cleveland game and wouldn’t let that happen again,” Clayton said.

Stoyanovich missed a 45-yard attempt in the final seconds of regulation in a 10-10 tie two weeks ago, then won the game in overtime and began a streak of six straight field goals, including three Sunday.

Green Bay rallied with two touchdowns in the final 5:54 to tie to at 20-20, but Marino got the winning drive moving with a 24-yard pass to Fred Banks.

Marino had two touchdown passes and 333 yards for the Dolphins (4-3). The Packers dropped to 3-4.
