Share

The city Planning Commission will consider a request to build a 10-acre tennis club and an adjoining six-acre condominium complex at its meeting today at 7 p.m.

The proposal submitted by developer Cecil R. Bunnell envisions 22 lighted tennis courts and a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse. Facilities for club members would include a restaurant, health club, beauty salon, tennis academy and day-care center. The project would be built on land in the north end of the city, west of the intersection of Camino Capistrano and Junipero Serra Road.

Bunnell would build 53 condominiums on a parcel next to the tennis club.

The city planning staff has recommended approval of the project but advised that the club have at least one tennis tournament per year that is open to all city residents.
