* The Venice Family Clinic benefit, “In Style With Elle!” sponsored by Robinson’s and ELLE Magazine Sept. 21 at Robinson’s Beverly Hills, with a cocktail party hosted by Rococo, music by Ron Rubin and fashions by Robinson’s, netted $12,000. Proceeds will be used to care for poor and homeless children. Irma Colen is president of the clinic board. Joani Stewart was event chair.

* The Second Invitational Golf Classic to benefit Five Acres on Sept. 25 at South Hills Country Club, West Covina, netted more than $50,000. Major sponsors were Community Bank, Ernst & Young, Chilcote Inc., Eastman Kodak Co., Industrial Indemnity, C. W. Poss Inc., Licher Direct Mail, Master-Halco, Matich Inc., and Sun Eight Co. Proceeds will be used to continue to work with abused and neglected children. Michael O. Coye was chairman and William H. Nolan was assistant chair.

* The Los Angeles County Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) honored the TV industry and the Harvard Alcohol Project Oct. 4 at Filmland Center’s Grand Atrium. The “Hooray for Hollywood” dinner raised more than $100,000 to be used to fund programs L.A. MADD provides in the community. Rod Loomis and Sandy Freeman are co-presidents. Dinner chairwoman was Harlene Marshall.

* City Hearts Performing Arts: A Company for Children, held a pre-theater “Phantom of the Opera Party” Oct. 7 in the Blue Ribbon Room of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. This first major event for the 4-year-old organization raised $26,000 for free classes in dance, music and theater for inner-city children. Juliet Prowse was honorary chairwoman. Sherry Jason (founder), Wendy Gordon, Judy Holden and Knych Keller were event chairmen.

* The Jay Nolan Center for Autism’s annual auction and dinner Oct. 7 at the Sportsmen’s Lodge, Studio City, this year raised a record $78,000. The themed event, “Promises to Keep,” netted $39,000 and that amount was matched by an anonymous donor. Coast Savings & Loan Assn. and Kaiser Permanente underwrote the auction. The center provides residential, vocational, education and recreational services to more than 1,000 children and adults suffering from autism. Colleen Kaufman and Jackie Eckberg were co-chairwomen.

* The Alzheimer’s Assn. received a check for $100,000, the sum raised at the third annual benefit, “Putting on the Ritz,” a wine tasting and Monte Carlo Night gala sponsored by the Southern California Liquor, Beverage & Grocery Industries Oct. 14 at the Bonaventure Hotel. A portion of the proceeds will be used for the 50 adult day-care centers in Los Angeles. The event was organized by Harry Parsley of Lucky Stores, Joel Beth and Dean Berger of Bohemian Distributing Co. and Karen Tighe of Gallo Wines. Richard Moll was honorary chair.
