COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UCI Men Beat USC Swimmers for First Time

Brian Judd won the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events, and Brian Pajer won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke races to lead the UC Irvine men’s swimming team to a 75-47 season-opening victory over USC at Heritage Park on Friday.
It was Irvine’s first victory against USC in men’s swimming.
Judd won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of one minute 44.83 seconds and the 500 in 4:41.36. Pajer won the 100 breaststroke in 58:61 and the 200 in 2:11.43.
Other double-winners for Irvine: Mat Curry won the 100 freestyle (47.95) and 100 backstroke (54.83) and Jeff Klatt won the 100 (52.50) and 200 butterfly events (1:58.93).
In California Collegiate Conference women’s volleyball:
Chapman 3, Cal State Los Angeles 0--Host Chapman (24-2, 7-0) swept, 15-2, 15-0, 15-6. Christy Anderson had nine kills and Rena Strange eight for Chapman.
