Louder and Louder

Share

As a post-production sound mixer, I have worked on episodic TV series, features and commercials. I would like to assure Pressman that a legion of technicians and engineers work long and hard to make sure sound levels are proper when the product leaves the dubbing facility.

What you may be experiencing in your audio struggle is this: greed. I follow some commercial producers’ instructions to make spots as loud as possible: Many are not happy until they see the VU meters pegging in the red. They want to “push the envelope” to “cut through the clutter.”

Perhaps now you can see why you are jumping up and down to “limit” or mix your own audio at home.
