Rob Moroso became the 1989 NASCAR series champion by finishing third in the Winston Classic in Martinsville, Va., and overtaking Tommy Houston for the Busch Grand National driving title.
Houston, who led by 19 points before the event, finished 24th after his engine failed on the 174th lap.
