Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Hold the applause. Singer Randy Jackson, younger brother of Michael and Janet, had to postpone his solo concert debut Monday night at the Roxy because of swollen vocal cords and an upper respiratory tract infection brought on by marathon videotaping sessions Friday and Saturday. A&M; Records had flown company executives, retail and radio representatives and members of the press from around the country to see Jackson introduce his new band, Randy & the Gypsys. The show will be rescheduled. Meanwhile, late-night talk-show host Arsenio Hall made hay of the fact that The Times inadvertently printed a photo of Bernard Jackson (a member of the group Surface) instead of Randy Jackson in Monday’s Calendar. Hall devoted most of his Monday night monologue to humorously questioning The Times’ ability to tell black people apart.
