Record Sales: Elsewhere on the Orange County auto front, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America Inc. in Cypress said it sold a record-breaking 11,377 automobiles in September, a whopping 70% increase from September, 1988, sales.

For the first nine months of 1989, Mitsubishi--which is getting ready to unleash a $30,000 twin-turbocharged 2+2 GT coupe on the American market--sold 84,623 cars in the United States, up 53% from the first nine months of 1988.

September’s car sales included 3,807 Mitsubishi Eclipses, the all-wheel drive sports coupe that is the Japanese car company’s first American-built product.
