Youth Pleads Guilty in Killing of Teacher
A 16-year-old pleaded guilty to murder and 13 other charges Tuesday in a shooting rampage at the boy’s private school in which a teacher was killed and an assistant principal was wounded.
Nicholas Elliott, whose shooting spree on Dec. 16 ended when the gun he aimed at a classmate jammed, accepted a plea bargain under which five lesser charges were dropped.
Circuit Judge Alan A. Rosenblatt will decide whether to sentence Elliott as an adult or a juvenile. The decision could mean the difference between eligibility for parole in 15 years and freedom at age 21.
Elliott pleaded guilty to murder, three counts of attempted murder, malicious wounding and nine firearms charges in the incident at Atlantic Shores Christian School.
