COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Falls in Women’s Volleyball
Raquel Glenn had 20 kills and 16 digs to lead host Loyola Marymount to a 15-10, 8-15, 16-14, 15-11 nonconference women’s volleyball victory over Cal State Fullerton Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Fullerton (7-15) had several good performances: Val Thurman had 13 kills, Susan Herman had 12 kills and 16 digs, Tammy Miller had 11 kills and five blocks and Sabrina Dennis had 10 kills and three blocks.
Loyola Marymount is 8-11.
In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:
Cal State Long Beach 3, UC Irvine 1--Tara Cross’ 31 kills helped the 49ers (17-4, 8-4) to a 14-16, 15-7, 15-6, 15-10 victory at Long Beach. Ali Wood had 12 kills and Kim Collins had 11 kills and 12 digs for the Anteaters (15-10, 4-8).
In nonconference men’s soccer:
University of San Diego 4, UC Irvine 1--San Diego scored four goals in 13 minutes of the first half. Tom Crane scored two for host San Diego. Gerald Slater scored the Anteaters’ only goal with 30 minutes remaining. San Diego improved to 13-6-1. Irvine is 3-14-1.
