W. Hollywood : Tow-Away Zones Created

Ticketing wasn’t enough, so cars parked illegally in resident-only areas along Sunset Boulevard will be towed away.

West Hollywood City Council members voted to establish the tow-away zones in October because ticketing illegally parked vehicles was not deterring the problem, city officials said.

“This will bring home the point that the city is serious about the problem. It will tell people in a strong way that the parking is limited to residential use,” said city spokeswoman Helen Goss.

Resident-only parking restrictions have been in effect near Sunset Boulevard clubs during evening hours for several months, but many area residents were still having trouble finding parking near their homes.

Signs designating the tow-away zones will be posted in mid-November, Goss said, with enforcement expected to begin in December.
